subtle ghostly trails

By nitelite

Cloud reverb is the ideal machine for ghostly trails — its '70s diffusion techniques and cascaded input diffusion blocks create an expanded early reverb that lingers longer than the displayed decay time, giving notes an ethereal 'fading apparition' quality. The decay is set moderately long (around 15-18s) but the mix is kept restrained just below noon, so the trails are clearly audible but never overwhelm the dry signal — the 'subtle' ghost that follows rather than engulfs. High diffusion (16) smooths the texture into a soft, formless wash with no distinct early reflections to anchor it in physical space, reinforcing the otherworldly character. Tone is pulled dark (below noon) — a slightly murky, veiled quality that evokes something heard from a distance or through a wall. The quadrature modulation oscillator (Mod=38, roughly 9 o'clock) adds gentle, slow-moving shimmer to the tail without becoming overt chorus — just enough life to make the trails feel like they're breathing rather than static. Low End is modest to keep the ghostly texture airy and transparent rather than heavy.
