Hologram Electronics Microcosm — MIDI Editor & CC Reference
Control the Hologram Electronics Microcosm from your browser — MIDI control reference, interactive editor, and AI-generated presets. Free, no install.
Explore the Microcosm controls in your browser and connect compatible MIDI hardware to send settings to your pedal. The reference below shows the controls mapped in Nitelite; available functions depend on the pedal and firmware. The default MIDI channel in Nitelite is 1. Browser MIDI control works in Chrome, Edge, Opera, or Brave — no install required.
Knobs
| Control | MIDI CC | Description |
|---|---|---|
| ACTIVITY | CC 6 | Controls the density/complexity of the effect — more or less of what each preset does. Works in tandem with Repeats. |
| SHAPE | CC 7 | Applies a contour to the volume or filter characteristics — sweeps through square, ramp, triangle, and saw waveforms |
| FILTER | CC 8 | Low-pass filter at end of effect chain — fully clockwise bypasses filter, turn left to cut high frequencies |
| MIX | CC 9 | Balance between input signal and effect — fully clockwise is 100% wet |
| TIME | CC 10 | Controls time subdivision or global tempo — toggles between Subdiv and Tempo modes via Select/Shift button |
| REPEATS | CC 11 | Determines effect duration or frequency — works in tandem with Activity. Function varies per preset. |
| SPACE | CC 12 | Mixes in stereo reverb — fully clockwise is 100% wet. 4 reverb modes selectable via Shift. |
| LOOP LEVEL | CC 13 | Sets the playback volume of the Phrase Looper |
Alt / Secondary Knob Functions
| Control | MIDI CC | Description |
|---|---|---|
| MOD RATE | CC 14 | Sets the pitch modulation rate for subtle chorus to dramatic detuned wobble |
| RESONANCE | CC 15 | Adjusts the filter resonance for more pronounced filter sweep character |
| EFFECT VOL | CC 16 | Adjusts the effect master volume level |
| MOD DEPTH | CC 19 | Sets the pitch modulation depth |
| REVERB TIME | CC 20 | Selects reverb mode: (A) Bright Room, (B) Dark Medium, (C) Large Hall, (D) Ambient |
| FADE TIME | CC 21 | Sets the loop fade time (fade direction configured in Global Configuration) |
Switches
| Switch | MIDI CC | Positions |
|---|---|---|
| SUBDIVISION | CC 5 | 1/4 / 1/2 / TAP / 2x / 4x / 8x |
| HOLD SAMPLER | CC 48 | Off / On |
| PHRASE LOOPER | CC 22 | Off / On |
| LOOPER ROUTING | CC 24 | Post-FX / Pre-FX |
| LOOPER DIRECTION | CC 23 | Forward / Reverse |
Footswitches
- TAP — CC 93
- BYPASS — CC 102
- HOLD — CC 48
Special MIDI Functions
- Tap Tempo — CC 93
- Reverse Effect — CC 47. Reverses the effect playback direction. 0-63 = forward, 64-127 = reverse.
- Looper Only — CC 25. Isolates the looper output. Off = looper plays through effects; On = looper plays dry, bypassing the effect engine.
- Looper Quantized — CC 27. Enables quantized looping. Off = free-form loop length; On = loop length snaps to the current tempo subdivision.
- Looper Playback Speed — CC 17. Continuously adjusts looper playback speed from slow to fast. Full range 0-127.
- Looper Playback Speed (Stepped) — CC 18. Selects looper playback speed in stepped subdivisions: 0=1/4, 1=1/2, 2=TAP, 3=2x, 4=4x, 5=8x.
- Copy Preset — CC 45. Initiates the copy/paste preset workflow — copies current settings so they can be pasted to a different user preset slot.
Hardware Presets
Microcosm has 16 hardware preset slots, recalled using MIDI Program Change. Nitelite supports saving to hardware over MIDI.
