Knobs

| VOLUME I | CC 22 | Channel I gain. Brighter and more aggressive as you turn it up. Jumped with Volume II by default (Y-cable) for a fuller, more saturated sound. As you increase one or both Volume controls, the amp becomes more saturated and distorted. |
| VOLUME II | CC 23 | Channel II gain. Darker with more bottom end as you turn it up. Jumped with Volume I by default. Turn the unused channel fully down to use one channel independently. Use Volume II to bring in bottom-end girth and balance the high end from Volume I. |
| OUTPUT | CC 7 | Overall post-amp output level. At noon, running direct or into other pedals, level is roughly the same as bypassed volume. Not a control on the original amp. |

Alt / Secondary Knob Functions

| ROOM | CC 30 | Amount of room tone mixed into the signal (ALT mode). Adds studio ambience and air from the tracking-room microphones. Has no effect when the speaker cabinet is bypassed or in 4-cable mode. There is no fully-wet Room sound. |
| PRESENCE | CC 34 | Overall brilliance and gain of the power amp section (ALT mode). Increase Presence to add more available gain and edge to the sound. |
| BOOST | CC 41 | Boost amount (ALT mode). Fully counter-clockwise = no boost. Above minimum engages an EP-III preamp for color and warmth. Towards 10 o'clock adds clean gain that pushes the amp's front end. Past 10 o'clock, a graphic-EQ-style midrange boost curve adds thick character. |

Special MIDI Functions
- Boost Enable — CC 40. Toggles the boost circuit on/off independent of the Boost knob position.
- Bright Cap — CC 35. Toggles the bright cap on Channel I. Adds brightness at lower gains; effect is reduced as Channel I gain rises and is removed at full gain. On by default on Lead, off by default on Brown. Not available on the Bass amp model.
- Ghost Notes — CC 36. Transformer/power-supply-driven harmonic artifacts around certain notes (intermodulation distortion). When ON, adds life and 'scream' higher on the neck (stock amp behavior). When OFF, switches to a cleaner power supply that eliminates ghost notes and much of the transformer hum. Note: CC value is inverted — 0 = Ghost Notes on, 1 = Ghost Notes off.
- Noise Gate Enable — CC 70. Toggles the noise gate on/off. Detects at the input but acts at the end of the signal chain, making it very effective on these high-gain amps.
- Gate Threshold — CC 71. Level at which the noise gate opens/closes. Adjust until your lightest notes pass through but the noise is suppressed.
- Gate Hold — CC 72. How long the gate holds the note after it drops below threshold, before the release time starts. Works with Release to avoid 'note chatter'.
- Gate Attack — CC 73. How quickly the gate opens when the signal crosses the threshold.
- Gate Release — CC 74. Length of time before the gate closes after the signal drops below threshold. Set for a natural release.
- Gate Attenuation — CC 75. Level of attenuation when the gate is closed. Very high settings allow no amp noise through; lower values let some noise pass.
- Cab Up — CC 14. Cycles the Cab switch up through the cab list (momentary).
- Cab Down — CC 15. Cycles the Cab switch down through the cab list (momentary).
- Store Preset (Hold) — CC 16. Emulates holding the ALT/AMP/STORE switch. Sends value 1 to save the current Live-mode settings to the currently selected preset slot.
Hardware Presets
Lion '68 has 128 hardware preset slots, recalled using MIDI Program Change. Saving requires an action on the pedal; follow the hardware preset manager instructions.
