Use Tone Terminal
Open Tone in the sidebar. Tone Terminal works with the selected pedal and your description. It can’t hear your guitar or inspect the physical pedal.
↗ Enlarge Pick the kind of reply
Section titled “Pick the kind of reply”| Control | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Generate | A fresh starting point: “Warm, short repeats behind clean rhythm guitar.” |
| Refine | A change to a suggestion: “Keep the character, but make the tail shorter.” |
| Ask | An explanation or question, without a settings block to apply. |
Tell it what matters
Section titled “Tell it what matters”Name the role of the effect, the character you want, and what should stay clear. A song reference can help, but add what you mean by it. “The dry pick attack should stay audible” gives a more useful constraint than a reference alone.
A better starting point
This only builds text in the guide. Copy it into Tone Terminal when you are ready; no request or generation is made here.
Include the right settings
Section titled “Include the right settings”Attach current settings includes the app’s current parameter values. It doesn’t read the knobs or saved slot from your pedal. Match the firmware choice where available.
Use Ask about this on a response to ask about that suggestion. Use Refine on a settings response to continue from it.
Apply only when you’re ready
Section titled “Apply only when you’re ready”A settings reply offers Apply to pedal, Discard, and Refine. Apply to pedal changes the app and sends the generated settings over MIDI. Applied records that app action; listen to check the hardware response.
After applying, Revert restores the earlier snapshot. Save to Library opens the cloud save dialog. A reply in Ask mode does not have a settings block to apply.
Keep useful results
Section titled “Keep useful results”Save a sound you like as a preset. Conversation history belongs to each pedal and is stored in your browser; don’t use it as the only record of a keeper. Reset in the Terminal clears the current pedal’s conversation.
Generation availability depends on your account. Check the balance and messages shown in Account and the Terminal before sending. The prompt builder on this page never sends a request or spends credits.
