AI Tone Terminal

The AI Tone Terminal is a conversational AI assistant built into Nitelite. Describe the sound you’re after and it generates specific parameter settings for your pedal — then sends them directly to your hardware.

Click the waveform icon in the left sidebar (or press the AI shortcut button in the pedal header) to open the Tone Terminal. The chat window floats over the pedal view and can be moved and resized to fit your workflow.

The AI understands your specific pedal’s controls, so you can speak naturally:

  • Genre or mood: “Give me a warm, dark reverb for jazz guitar”
  • Reference tracks: “Something like the delay on the intro of Meshuggah’s Bleed”
  • Effect character: “Long, washy shimmer with lots of decay”
  • What to avoid: “Keep the mix low — I just want a hint of reverb”

The more context you give, the better the results.

When the AI responds, it suggests specific knob positions for your pedal. Click Apply to load those settings and send them to your hardware via MIDI.

If you don’t like the result, click Revert to go back to where you were before, and continue the conversation to refine the tone.

Each pedal has its own conversation history. Switch pedals and you’ll see that pedal’s previous chat. Conversations are saved between sessions so you can pick up where you left off.

  • The AI can only suggest settings for parameters that your pedal exposes over MIDI.
  • Results vary — treat suggestions as a starting point, not a final answer.
  • The AI doesn’t hear your guitar or your amp, so it’s working from description alone.
