Hardware Presets
Many pedals can store settings on the hardware itself — these are called hardware presets or preset slots. Nitelite’s Hardware Preset Manager lets you write presets to those slots and recall them, all from your browser.
What Are Hardware Presets?
Section titled “What Are Hardware Presets?”A hardware preset is a snapshot of your pedal’s settings that’s stored in the pedal’s memory. You can recall it even when your computer is unplugged. The number of available slots varies by pedal — some have 4, others have 16 or more.
Hardware presets are different from Tone Library presets, which are stored in Nitelite’s cloud. Tone Library presets require Nitelite to apply settings; hardware presets live on the pedal and can be recalled by pressing buttons on the hardware.
Which Pedals Support This?
Section titled “Which Pedals Support This?”Hardware preset management is available for pedals that support MIDI-based preset save and recall. This includes most Chase Bliss pedals, many Strymon and Eventide pedals, and others. If your pedal supports it, a Presets button appears in the pedal header.
Saving to a Slot
Section titled “Saving to a Slot”To write your current settings to a hardware slot:
- Dial in the tone you want in Nitelite.
- Open the Hardware Preset panel from the pedal header.
- Click Write next to the slot number you want to save to.
Nitelite sends the appropriate MIDI messages to write the preset to your pedal. The exact method varies by pedal (some require a specific sequence of MIDI messages), but Nitelite handles this automatically.
Recalling a Slot
Section titled “Recalling a Slot”Click Recall next to any slot to load those settings from the pedal. Nitelite also loads the matching Tone Library preset (if one is linked) into the on-screen controls so they stay in sync.
For presets that live in Nitelite’s cloud, see the Tone Library.
