Special MIDI Functions

  • Expression — CC 100
  • Bypass — CC 102. When on, the current preset is bypassed. When off, the effect is engaged. Per Strymon spec: 0=Bypassed, 1-127=Engaged.
  • Persist (Trails) — CC 123. Allows delay repeat "trails" to continue when the effect is bypassed. Enabling Persist automatically sets TimeLine MX to Buffered Bypass.
  • Infinite Repeats — CC 97. Engages infinite repeats on the current preset. Equivalent to holding the lit A or B footswitch.
  • Tap Division — CC 17. Note or time division of the Delay Time to which repeats sync. 0=Quarter, 1=Dotted Eighth, 2=Eighth, 3=Triplet, 4=Sixteenth, 5=Golden Ratio (~1.62:1), 6=Silver Ratio (~2.41:1), 7=Free (unlocks the delay from TAP tempo and MIDI Clock).
  • Output Level — CC 7. Attenuates the volume level of the delay type's wet signal only (0-100). Useful to fine-tune the wet-dry mix of some presets.
  • Pan — CC 9. Pans the wet signal between the LEFT and RIGHT outputs. 0=Full Left, 8=Center, 16=Full Right. Disabled (centered) with mono output or Split/Dual routing.
  • Swell — CC 23. Applies a fade-in of the selected time to the repeats for a softer attack. 0=Off, then 0.10 to 4.0 seconds.
  • Duck Sensitivity — CC 27. Amount of ducking applied to the delay signal, triggered by the input signal (0-18).
  • Duck Release — CC 25. Release time of the ducking, 0.05 to 1.00 seconds.
  • Smear — CC 35. Softens the attack of the repeats while maintaining full frequency response. With high REPEATS levels, the delayed signal gets dreamy and ethereal.
  • High Pass — CC 37. Reduces the low frequency content of the wet signal after the delay (Off to 900Hz). Tames boominess of delay repeats on low-note riffs or chords.
  • Boost — CC 122. Final output level for the preset, -3.0dB to +3.0dB. 0=-3dB, 30=0dB (unity, default), 60=+3dB. Useful for level matching or boosting a solo with delay.
  • Dual Mode — CC 124. Dual delay routing. 0=Off (Delay 1 only), 1=Parallel, 2=Series 1>>2, 3=Series 1<<2, 4=Split L|R, 5=Split R|L. Nitelite controls Delay 1 — Delay 2 uses its own CC set (not mapped).
  • MIDI Patch Bank — CC 0. Select preset bank before sending a Program Change. 0=Bank 0 (presets 000A-063B), 1=Bank 1 (064A-127B), 2=Bank 2 (128A-149B). Powers up in Bank 0.
  • Looper Level — CC 127. Sets the volume level of the Looper playback (0-100).
  • Remote Tap — CC 93. Sends a remote tap tempo pulse to set TAP Tempo. Send any value for each tap pulse.
  • Value Encoder — CC 83. Simulate Value Encoder scroll. Send 0 to scroll counter-clockwise, 1 to scroll clockwise.
  • Looper: Record — CC 119. Starts looper recording. MIDI looper control does not require Looper mode to be active on the pedal.
  • Looper: Play — CC 120. Starts looper playback. Send any value to trigger.
  • Looper: Stop — CC 121. Stops looper playback. Send any value to trigger.
  • Looper: Forward/Reverse (Toggle) — CC 125. Toggles the looper between forward and reverse playback. Send any value to trigger.
  • Looper: Full/Half Speed (Toggle) — CC 126. Toggles the looper between full speed and half speed playback. Send any value to trigger.
  • Looper: Pre/Post Location (Toggle) — CC 84. Toggles the Global Looper Location between Pre (before Delay 1 and 2 — captures the non-effected input) and Post (after — captures all enabled delays).
  • Looper: Undo — CC 98. Undoes the last looper overdub, returning to the original loop. Send any value to trigger.
  • Looper: Redo — CC 99. Redoes the last undone looper overdub. Send any value to trigger.

Hardware Presets

The TimeLine MX has 300 hardware preset slots. Nitelite can save your current settings to a slot and recall slots via MIDI program change.
