Chase Bliss Big Time — MIDI Editor & CC Reference

Control the Chase Bliss Big Time from your browser — full MIDI CC reference for 11 parameters, interactive editor, and AI-generated presets. Free, no install.

Nitelite gives the Big Time a full browser-based control surface: turn every knob, flip every switch, describe the tone you want to the AI Tone Terminal, and save the results — all sent to the pedal live over MIDI (default channel 2). Works free in Chrome, Edge, Opera, or Brave — no install required.

Knobs

ControlMIDI CCDescription
COLORCC 14Gain of the analog preamp before the delay line. As COLOR is turned up the preamp begins to saturate and the limiter's effects intensify. Sets the loudness of the signal before it enters the delay line.
TIMECC 15Delay time. Clock control that interacts with both MODE (sets overall range) and SCALE (decides whether the time changes smoothly or in musical steps). TIME snaps to the middle position when tap tempo is used or a loop is deleted.
CLUSTERCC 16Gradually blends in additional delay taps and diffusion. First 25%: synced multitap (one extra echo synced to delay time). Middle: scattered ambience (second and third echoes disconnected from delay time). Final 25%: drifting diffusion (modulated diffusion on top of clusters). Also generates a stereo image — bump it up to widen.
TILT EQCC 17Studio-style EQ that splits the frequency spectrum in half and cuts either lows or highs. Push up to cut lows, push down to cut highs. At noon (middle) the TILT EQ is neutral. The CROSSOVER alt control sets the middle point.
FEEDBACKCC 18Gain of the feedback loop. Controls the number of repeats and how they change over time. If FEEDBACK is too high the echoes will crash violently into the limiter and become immediately distorted; too low and they won't come into contact with the limiter at all. Higher FEEDBACK than COLOR builds toward a maximum loudness over time.
WETCC 19Final output volume of the effect. Turning WET all the way down enters PREAMP MODE — Big Time becomes a stereo analog preamp with only COLOR, DRY and +12dB doing anything.

Alt / Secondary Knob Functions

ControlMIDI CCDescription
TEXTURECC 32Alt control. Adjusts a unique characteristic of each STATE: introduces aliasing and lowers bit depth in DIGITAL, sets compression amount from subtle squeeze to ducking sag in COMPRESSED, controls clipping symmetry (more ragged as turned up) in SATURATED, sets misbiasing sensitivity in #!&%.
RATECC 33Alt control. Sets the speed of MOTION. When ENV or STEP is selected, RATE controls the GLIDE time; with SQUARE, it sets sequence speed.
DEPTHCC 34Alt control. Sets the range of MOTION. When a SCALE is selected, DEPTH selects the harmonic interval the sequence moves through.
CROSSOVERCC 35Alt control. Selects where the frequency spectrum is split on the TILT EQ.
DIFFUSECC 36Alt control. Gradually introduces diffusion, causing echoes to smear and dissolve.
DRYCC 37Alt control. Output loudness of the dry signal.

Special MIDI Functions

  • Tap Tempo — CC 103
  • Expression — CC 100
  • Loop: Play vs Dub on Record — CC 42. Determines what Big Time does once the initial loop is recorded. OFF = go into playback (default). ON = go straight into overdubbing.
  • Motion Ignores Scale — CC 43. When ON, MOTION will ignore all scales and always be smooth. Lets you use TIME slider to transpose loops while retaining classic, smooth pitch modulation.
  • Step Mode — CC 44. Changes the tap function of the TEMPO footswitch. When engaged, each tap creates a momentary wave of movement; with a SCALE selected, this advances to the next step. Does not work in Loop or Mod modes.
  • Trails — CC 45. Allows the echoes to naturally fade out after the pedal is bypassed.
  • Dry Kill — CC 46. Removes the dry signal from the pedal's output — effect signal only.
  • Dry Clean — CC 47. When ON, the dry signal bypasses Big Time's preamp. By default both wet and dry are processed by the preamp.
  • Balanced I/O — CC 48. Switches the I/O between unbalanced (default, OFF) and ultra-low-noise balanced (ON). Engage on the pedal by holding the right footswitch for two seconds. Per the MIDI manual CC48 is inverted: BALANCED=0, UNBALANCED=1+.
  • Tap Tempo Subdivision — CC 54. Sets the note subdivision used for tap tempo. 0=Sixteenth, 1=Eighth Triplet, 2=Dotted Sixteenth, 3=Eighth, 4=Quarter Triplet, 5=Dotted Eighth, 6=Quarter, 7=Half Triplet, 8=Dotted Quarter, 9=Half, 10=Whole Triplet, 11 or higher=Dotted Half.
  • MIDI Clock — CC 110. Sets MIDI clock behavior. 0=NO CLOCK (MIDI OUT jack passes incoming MIDI through), 1=CLOCK IN (follow incoming MIDI clock), 2 or higher=CLOCK OUT (output Big Time's own clock, range 60–240 bpm, auto-subdividing to the nearest double or half outside that range). Not available in MOD mode.
  • MIDI Global Notes — CC 112. Sets MIDI note response: 0=OFF (ignore notes), 1=CHANNEL (notes on Big Time's channel only), 2 or higher=GLOBAL (notes on any channel).
  • Save to Current Slot — CC 28. Saves the current settings to whatever preset slot is currently loaded. Sends CC 28.
  • EOM Disengage — CC 101. Disengages Expression Over MIDI, releasing the virtual expression position set via CC100 so the pedal reverts to its knob/slider settings.
  • Loop: Record — CC 104. Triggers loop record (Loop mode only). Equivalent to tapping the LEFT footswitch to start recording.
  • Loop: Play — CC 105. Triggers loop playback (Loop mode only). Equivalent to tapping the LEFT footswitch after recording.
  • Loop: Stop — CC 107. Stops loop playback (Loop mode only). Equivalent to tapping the RIGHT footswitch.

Hardware Presets

The Big Time has 127 hardware preset slots. Nitelite can save your current settings to a slot and recall slots via MIDI program change.
